GHG Software Developments Ltd, a Milton Keynes based software company that develops speech recognition solutions, is reporting a significant increase in sales in the last quarter despite the turbulent trading conditions of the recession.
GHG, a privately owned company, has been quietly developing and refining its TalkingPoint Product over the last 7 years. TalkingPoint is a highly specialised product that uses the world leading dragon speech engine. TalkingPoint is delivering dramatic results in a number of market sectors including medical, legal, construction and the disability market.
The software provides a user friendly voice interface and is highly intuitive to use. To date, one of the largest stumbling blocks preventing more widespread adoption of speech recognition has been the ease of use. Now, the pioneering software developed by GHG helps overcome this critical issue. An estimated 50% of all speech engine packages purchased are mothballed because users struggle with the interface, so overcoming this problem is beginning to revolutionize the market.
TalkingPoint enables the user to drive their PC completely by voice, removing the need to use a keyboard or mouse. Driving a PC by voice is significantly faster than keyboard input. In many applications, the technology is adopted specifically to increase productivity and save money, whilst in the disabled sector the technology can actually improve an individual’s quality of life.
Malcolm Grant, GHG’s MD and TalkingPoint designer, comments: “my entire team here at Milton Keynes is passionate about the product. We are proud of our achievement to enhance a technology that is widely available but misunderstood and under-used. The time is most certainly right for speech recognition and in the near future we are going to see huge increases in adoption of voice driven computing.” |
