TalkingPoint Team complete roll out to Metropolitan Police Assisted Technology Users
The Metropolitan Police Service Assisted Technology Users have recently had their TalkingPoint and Dragon software (known internally as MetTalk) updated. As part of the rollout to the AT users of Windows XP, GHG were asked to provide updated versions of Dragon and TalkingPoint.
Consultancy was provided by Malcolm Grant (MD of GHG) and initial testing and proving carried out by CapGemini on behalf of the Metropolitan Police Services in Summer 2009. Feedback from user testing within the MPS indicated quicker reponse times, enhanced recognition and ease of use. The MPS also updated to TalkingPoint Gold from Silver thus allowing for customisation of users workflows by scripting.
GHG were then engaged to take part in the roll out of the update to all AT users with speech recognition requirements. Over a period of 2 months the TalkingPoint team delivered 60 days of installation and training. Users speech files were updated and training on the new facilities provided.
The upgrade to Dragon provided users recognition that was greatly improved on the previous version and TalkingPoint's enhanced facilities made it even easier to drive the computer by Voice. In particular the 'Regular Items' facility within TalkingPoint was greatly appreciated. These provide facilities to use voice shortcuts to load commonly used packages and files and speed up the use of email via regularly used contacts.
TalkingPoint's dictation box proved particularly useful in allowing the use of voice recognition in legacy systems which do not support Dragon's Select and Say commands.
Training was carried out by GHG's experienced Speech Recognition users and their own use of TalkingPoint was brought to bear in advising users on the most efficient methods of utilising the software in their own work environment. In addition Assisted Technology workshops are in place to enable users to discuss in more detail how to most effectively use MetTalk. |
