Holt Medical Centre chooses TalkingPoint PDF Print E-mail

Holt Medical Centre join the growing list of GP Surgeries in Norfolk using TalkingPoint

Holt Medical Centre, based on the Kelling Hospital site, provides services to villages on and around the North Norfolk coast.  It is a Personal Medical Services (PMS) practice and a one-stop Primary Care Service with 10 doctors and 2 locums.

Experienced users of Digital Dictation the practice became interested in Speech Recognition after attending a Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital GP roadshow where a presentation by Graham Hurst (NNUH Radiology) and Malcolm Grant (GHG's MD) prompted them to request a demonstration at a practice meeting.

A subsequent visit to nearby Paston Surgery confirmed TalkingPoint's credentials as a supplier of economic and easy to use voice technologies and as a consequence the practice decided to invest in TalkingPoint's Digital Dictation, Speech to Text and Voice Recognition products.

TalkingPoint's Digital Dictation has been purchased to replace a previous product no longer supported by the manufacturer.  The secretaries were impressed with the improvements in quality and ease of use of TalkingPoint Digital Dictation Software.

12 copies of full Voice Recogniton have been purchased so that Doctors can complete patient notes using a specialised GP vocabulary based upon thousands of GP letters. The ability of TalkingPoint to integrate with the PAS was important to the practice.

TalkingPoint's inbuilt voice commands also allow the computer to be driven by voice.  In Microsoft Outlook, for example, creating and responding to emails is far faster than typing if voice recognition is used.

4 copies of TalkingPoint's Speech to Text were purchased giving Doctors the option to complete referral letters by full voice recognition or to use the Digital Dictation software to record a file to be automatically transcribed by the secretary.  It is estimated that up to 50% of typing time will be saved when using Speech to Text.

The practice decided to purchase two support licences to enable them to internally support and train.  4 doctors willl be trained by GHG, the rest of the training will be supplied internally.
