Telford and Wrekin Community Paediatrician Doctors go digital

Community Dr’s at Telford and Wrekin PCT have adopted digital dictation technology from TalkingPoint that is set to transform the way in which they are able to report their work whilst on the move.

Providing a mobile service, 15 doctors within the Community Paediatric Service will now be able to dictate their findings whilst out in the community rather than waiting until the end of the day to dictate, which had previously been the case.  With the investment of computer software the dictation can be downloaded making it easily and readily available for the 11 secretaries back at base who will now be able to balance their work load more effectively.

Sue Richards, Performance Manager, who is overseeing the project comments; “TalkingPoint’s digital dictation is about making our Dr’s workload more manageable. Being community based, digital dictation reporting will allow them to create a better work-life balance freeing the time they have previously had to spend in the evening dictating letters.”

The initiative was driven by doctor demand who had seen the TalkingPoint's digital dictation in use in the Shrewsbury & Telford NHS Trust Hospitals.  Seeing the benefits first hand they knew they would fit well into their working practices.  The system is expected to go live in July 2008.
