Question: What is TalkingPoint Commander?
Answer: Talking Point Commander is a suite of software, which is designed to allow a user to easily manage a computer by using a consistent set of easily learnt Voice Commands.
It is highly configurable so that the user can easily access frequently used parts of the system.
The main configurable elements are the Regular Items. These provide access to system resources by name. For example once a user has defined a Regular Directory called My Letters, it can be got to by saying "Get My Letters" in Windows Explorer, or in any file browsing dialogue. This makes opening and saving documents much easier.
Regular Items include:
- Applications to start and switch to programs
- Directories, Files and Documents for easy file handling
- Folders and Contacts in e-mail
- Styles and Bookmarks in Word
- Shortcuts allowing standard text to be recalled anywhere
- Buttons to allow clicks in difficult applications
- Pages for easy Internet browsing
TalkingPoint also has a range of professional options to support particular professions, particularly in the medical profession. The software supports workflows for these professionals, streamlining their use of specialist applications so that they can concentrate on maximising productivity using voice recognition without having to drive the application step by step themselves. The professional options include:
- TalkingPoint Radiology
- TalkingPoint Pathology
- TalkingPoint Ultrasonography
- TalkingPoint for GPs
- TalkingPoint for Translators
- TalkingPoint Screen Reader - for visual impairment.
- TalkingPoint SpeechToText
TalkingPoint has many features to assist users with special needs. For example it repeat commands, read out selections, or display information on a high visibility screen for users with visual impairment.
TalkingPoint includes interfaces to various input devices such as FootPedals and SpeechMikes. These interfaces are, like the rest of TalkingPoint, designed to improve user productivity and user experience.
Talking Point makes voice recognition work in practice.
